Ever wondered why your local CHRA feels so different from a regular shop? It’s all thanks to ARUC Directive 2 (updated July 2024), which turns harm reduction from a slogan into a set of rules every association must follow.
The basics
- Cannabis Harm Reduction Associations are non-profit and licensed by the Authority for the Responsible Use of Cannabis.
- Access is for adult Maltese residents only, after in-person verification.
- Members may obtain up to 7 grams per day and 50 grams per month.
- Advertising and promotion of cannabis are prohibited, including online.
Why it feels different
Because the goal is not to sell more. The goal is to make sure that adults who already use cannabis can do so with safer, lab-aware products, clear information and a community that notices when something is wrong.
What it asks of you
Respect the limits, keep products away from minors, do not share or resell, and be honest with the association about your wellbeing. In return you get a transparent, regulated and supportive environment.
