THC is what gives cannabis its kick, but more isn’t always better. Directive 2 (ARUC’s harm reduction bible) puts clear guardrails in place because the science backs them up.
Why potency matters
Higher THC concentrations are linked to a greater chance of anxiety, panic and problematic use, particularly for people whose brains are still developing. That is why ARUC advises members aged 18 to 21 to avoid products above 15% THC, and why associations may not dispense products above 18% THC to anyone under 21.
Mixing is where risk multiplies
Combining cannabis with nicotine, alcohol or other substances makes effects harder to predict and dependency more likely. Directive 2 asks associations to talk openly about this with members instead of pretending it does not happen.
What this means at Kalma
- Every product is labelled with its THC content so you know what you are using.
- Daily and monthly limits (7g and 50g) apply to every member, without exception.
- Our team is trained to recognise early signs of problematic use and to point you towards support, without judgement.
Responsible use starts with information. If you have questions about potency or mixing, ask us in person or drop by one of our workshops.
